Dormaa East unites for National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving.

The Dormaa East District marked the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 with a strong display of faith, unity, and gratitude.The event brought together Christian and Muslim leaders, traditional authorities, government officials, students, and residents to pray for peace, stability, and the holistic development of the district and nation.

In a brief sermon, Rev. Jonas K. Oheneba, Chairman of the District Local Council of Churches, taught that divine protection is sustained through gratitude. He urged Ghanaians to look beyond politics and commit to national growth rooted in devotion to God.Intercessory prayers were led by pastors and Muslim leaders, with petitions for leadership integrity, patriotism, and protection of the environment against illegal mining and other destructive practices.

Hon. Osei Owusu King, District Chief Executive, stressed that the day must remain non-political to yield both spiritual and physical benefits. He praised the unity among faiths as vital for development.

Hon. Rachel Amma Owusuah, MP for Dormaa East, noted the day was instituted to thank God for peace after the 2024 elections. She also raised concerns about flooding from poor waste disposal and urged the youth to live responsibly. The program was chaired by Barima Efiritete Sampong Siaw, Dormaa Mawerehene.
