DCE Holds Community Engagement at Kumagyemire

On Thursday, 20th August 2026, the District Chief Executive (DCE), together with a delegation from the Dormaa East District Assembly, embarked on an electoral area tour to Kumagyemire in the Dormaa East District. The purpose of the visit was to engage with the people of the community, familiarize themselves with their living conditions, identify the challenges confronting them, and ascertain how they were faring.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Odikro of Kumagyemire, Nana Kofi Adu, and some members of the community. The engagement commenced with introductions of the elders present and members of the Assembly delegation.

In his address, the DCE, Hon. Osei Owusu King expressed his appreciation to the people of Kumagyemire for the warm reception accorded the delegation. He conveyed greetings from the President and the Member of Parliament to the people and thanked them for their massive support during the elections. He appealed to the community members to continue supporting, guiding and praying for the government and their leaders.

The DCE also addressed the issue of the abandoned Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in the community. He assured the people that the government is committed to renovating the facility and making it operational. He therefore appealed to the community to take good care of the facility once it is renovated. He further indicated that he would periodically visit the community together with the District Health Director to monitor the facility and ensure that it is effectively utilized.

The DCE also appealed to the elders and community members to organize communal labor to clear the overgrown portions of their access road to improve visibility and enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians.

In response, the Odikro, Nana Kofi Adu, expressed gratitude to the DCE for taking steps to address the challenges facing the community, particularly the proposed renovation and operationalization of the CHPS compound. He, however, appealed to the Assembly and government to extend electricity to the community, explaining that the lack of electricity was a major factor affecting the operation of the CHPS compound. He noted that nurses posted to the community often left after working for only a few weeks due to the lack of electricity. Nana Kofi Adu further appealed for the renovation of the community’s primary school to provide a more conducive learning environment for the pupils.

Responding to the concerns raised, the DCE assured the community that their request for electricity extension and the renovation of the primary school would be taken into consideration. He explained that development projects were being distributed equitably across the district and expressed confidence that Kumagyemire would receive its fair share of development interventions.

The engagement ended with a renewed commitment from the District Assembly to work closely with the community to address its developmental challenges and improve the well-being of the people.
