Dormaa East District Assembly holds Budget Committee Meeting
The Dormaa East District Assembly held a Budget Committee meeting on Wednesday, 13th May, 2026, at the District Assembly Hall. The meeting brought together all heads of departments and the District Coordinating Director who is also the chairperson of the committee.
The Budget analyst, Mr. Ockrah-Anyim Evans presented the Assembly’s financial performance covering compensation of employees, goods and service, capital expenditure, and revenue performance from all sources. The 2025 fiscal year was characterized by both progress and constraints in the Assembly’s effort to deliver quality service and deepen local development. Total revenue mobilized for the year amounted to GHS16,058,998.07 against an approved budget of GHS35,452,137.43 representing an achievement rate of 45.3%. It was noted that although some progress was made, there was the need to improve Internal Generated Funds (IGF). Concerns were raised about the delay in the release of funds particularly the Responsive Factor Grants (DDF/DPAT) for which no release was made. The mobilization of IGF against the budget recorded 80% performance which reflects sustained efforts to strengthen local revenue mobilization.
The committee also discussed the status of the ongoing DACF projects including boreholes across the district and the construction of classroom blocks. Some of the projects are completed, commissioned and handed over while others are still ongoing, while no release had yet been made for the first quarter of 2026 projects.
Some key challenges that were discussed are, the delay in the release of funds by the Central Government, inadequate Internally Generated Funds mobilization, inadequate land use, spatial planning and schemes, limited access to telecommunication services and inadequate residential accommodation for staff.
Members further discussed ways to improve revenue mobilization and suggested that heads of departments should be informed about their budget allocations for proper accountability. The budget analyst urged all members to come up with innovative ideas to improve revenue performance in the district.
