Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman, Dormaa East District Chief Executive, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has presented awards to recognise individuals and teams who have made outstanding contributions to Dormaa East District and Ghana in the fight during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over 36 members of the Dormaa East enclave received the Presidential Awards to acknowledge the immense contributions of Frontline health workers, who distinguished themselves in their line of work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among the recipients were nurses, doctors, laboratory technicians, nutrition officers, security officers, environmental health Officers, media houses etc.

The awardees were presented with a certificate of recognition signed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The District Assembly also awarded a citation of Honor to a philanthropist and the founder of Women Health to Wealth organization, Nana Abenaa Akuamoa-Boateng.

Presenting the citation, Hon. Kofi Agyeman commended her for Pioneering the establishment of girl clubs in our public Junior and Senior High Schools, enabling access to Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) services and scholarships for brilliant yet financially disadvantaged girls and remarkably enhancing maternal and child health by providing extensive training and support to midwives and healthcare personnel involved in clean births, Helping Babies Breathe (HBB), and Helping Babies Survive (HBS), resulting in a significant reduction in maternal and child birth mortality rates within all our health facilities.

Madam Agnes Asiedu, District Health Director thanked the president for the recognition and said health workers continued various routine surveillance weekly to identify diseases that have the potential of spreading not exempting COVID-19, despite it’s diminishing spread.
