A delegation from Dormaa East District, led by members of the district education directorate presented 15 students from the district who participated and emerged as winners of the Girls Club Annual Leadership camp and competition in Kumasi organized by Women Health to Wealth, (WHW).
The event organized by the Women’s Health to Wealth (WHW), an NGO with a movement to support female leaders through concerted efforts at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Establish Good Health and Well-Being) and 5 (Enforce Gender Equality) was formed by a philanthropist Nana Abenaa Akuamoa-Boateng.
The NGO aims to create safe schools, increase girls’ education opportunities, provide access to health services, and cultivate female leadership.
Dormaa East team won by 265 points while Ahafo Ano South-West placed 2nd with 174 points.
A team led by Mr. Philip Adom Danso, District Education director officially visited to present the award to Hon Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman.
Presenting the award to Hon. Kofi Agyeman, Dormaa East District Chief Executive at his office, congratulated the team on their brilliant performances.
He mentioned that the District Assembly was proud of the constant improvement on the Educational activities and expressed his gratitude to the Women Health to Wealth organization for their support for young women in the district.
Hon. Kofi Agyeman challenged the education directorate to stir up the talents under their care to the development of the nation, reminding them that they were receiving the award because hard work and determination pays.
At the meeting were Mad. Elizabeth Nyarko Boampong (District Girl Child Coordinator), Oppong Yaw- Dist. Education PRO, Mahama Ibrahim-District finance officer, Mutala Braimah, District Co-ordinating director, Nana Asare, District Engineer and Reindolph Afrifa-Oware, Head of District IT Unit.
