Dormaa East District Assembly champions transparency at Wamanafo town hall.

Dormaa East District Assembly on Wednesday March 4, 2026 hosted a Social Accountability Town-hall Meeting at the Wamanfo Presbyterian Church to ensure a transparent management of the public resources through direct dialogue with traditional authorities and community members.

​The District Coordinating Director, Mr. Raphael Dodzi Sorkpor opened the proceedings by stressing that local development is a shared responsibility. He welcomed the community’s input as vital for the district’s progress and encouraged everyone present to participate actively in the day’s discussions.

​The District Budget Officer, Mr. Kwakwu Okrah detailed the Assembly’s financial activities, noting that such meetings are a statutory obligation to the public.  He provided a transparent look at the 2025 financial year, detailing the approved budget against actual expenditures for completed and uncompleted projects.

​He assured the gathering that 2025 funds were spent in strict accordance with development priorities and financial regulations and further pledged that the Assembly would provide a full account of any uncompleted projects in the upcoming quarter.

​The District Planning and Development Officer Mr. Roy Amoah, provided a comprehensive breakdown of ongoing and completed works across the education, health, and sanitation sectors. Looking ahead to 2026, he announced a suite of transformative projects, which include

  1. ​Economic Growth: Construction of a 24-hour economy market at the Wamfie Friday Market.
  2. ​Essential Services: Installation of streetlights, a new courthouse, and 20 water mechanization initiatives.
  3. ​Connectivity: Critical drainage work, including the Dormaa Akwanu culvert.

​The Presiding Member of the Assembly Hon. Isaac Affi, speaking on behalf of the District Chief Executive and the Member of Parliament, acknowledged the public’s request for pictorial evidence of projects to further boost transparency. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to being transparent and accountable to the citizens. He gave a firm assurance that promised projects would commence shortly and that all ongoing works would be completed in due course.
