Pragyia Owners and Operators urged to prioritize discipline and lawfulness: Dormaa East

The leadership of the Dormaa East District Assembly has called for heightened personal and professional discipline among motor tricycle owners and operators to ensure the sustainability of their trade.

Speaking at a consultative meeting with the Dormaa East District Pragyia Association on Thursday, March 26, 2026, the Presiding Member (PM), Hon. Isaac Afi, stated that the future of the “Pragyia” business rests entirely on the discipline of its stakeholders. He noted that while Parliament works toward national legislation to formally regulate the sector, local operators must prove their readiness by adhering to road safety standards and community regulations. He urged owners to strictly monitor their riders, emphasizing that a disciplined approach reduces road accidents and fosters a better relationship with law enforcement.

The District Coordinating Director, Mr. Dodzi Sorkpor, underscored the importance of administrative compliance. He encouraged the Association to align its internal operations with the Assembly’s bye-laws, particularly regarding revenue contributions. He explained that fulfilling these financial obligations is a prerequisite for the developmental projects that improve the very roads they ply.

The Patron of the Association Mr. Paul Tawiah, contributing to the dialogue, emphasized the need for a unified code of conduct to prevent chaotic competition and internal strife. He urged members to embrace the standardization of their operations as a functional necessity. He further noted that legal integration is inevitable, and the association must remain proactive in aligning with the Assembly’s bye-laws and upcoming national laws to protect their livelihoods and ensure they remain a respected source of income for the district.

The session concluded with a mutual agreement to foster a closer relationship between the Association and the Assembly to protect the livelihoods of the hundreds of families reliant on the industry.
