Dormaa East District Assembly embarks on decongestion exercise of old lorry station towards the operationalization of the new unused lorry station.

As part of the preparatory measures, the Assembly convened a stakeholder engagement session with the leadership of the transport operators and users of the old lorry station. The objectives of the engagement were to brief stakeholders on the planned decongestion exercise at Wamfie and to solicit their cooperation in the successful operationalization of the new lorry station at Wamfie Friday Market.

They addressed key issues like, the need to improve traffic flow and reduce indiscriminate parking within the central business district, the operational modalities for relocating transport activities to the designated lorry station, concerns raised by operators regarding space allocation, loading arrangements, security, and safety of commuters.

Stakeholders expressed their commitment to collaborate with the Assembly and requested continued consultations throughout the implementation period. The engagement concluded with a mutual understanding to support the decongestion agenda.
