Dormaa East District Renders Stewardship Account Under Government Accountability Series
To demonstrate government’s commitment to transparency and fiscal accountability, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa East, Hon. Osei Owusu King, presented a comprehensive stewardship report to chiefs and people of the district at the Wamfie Presbyterian Church, on Friday, April 24, 2026. The event, held under the “Government Accounting to the People” series, was supervised by the Bono Regional Minister, Lawyer Joseph Addae Akwaboah, and attended by traditional authorities and local residents.
Prior to the formal durbar, the Bono Regional Coordinating Council conducted a field inspection of various development sites on April 23. The Regional Minister, accompanied by the DCE and the Member of Parliament (MP), verified the progress of ongoing and completed projects to ensure that reported figures aligned with physical developments on the ground.
During his presentation, Hon. Osei Owusu King provided a detailed account of the district’s progress over the past year. He began by highlighting the stable security climate and the strategic utilization of GHS 12,755,493 from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) to support education, economic empowerment, and institutional development.
The DCE detailed an extensive list of infrastructure improvements, ranging from new classroom blocks and teacher quarters at Dormaa Akwamu, Wamanafo, and Nsesresu to the renovation of the Dormaa Akwamu health center and the construction of new CHPS compounds at Praprababida and Abroso. He also emphasized the completion of 10 GETFUND projects secured through the MP’s office, including a girls’ dormitory for Islamic Senior High School.
Turning to essential services and the local economy, the DCE explained how the assembly installed 206 streetlights and mechanized 10 boreholes to serve various communities. In the agricultural sector, the administration distributed 705 bags of NPK fertilizer and over 1,000 poultry birds to local farmers. Furthermore, he noted that 187 youth have been successfully integrated into the workforce through the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in roles across community policing, teaching, and national apprenticeships.
The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboah, commended the district’s performance, noting that current financial releases to the district in just three quarters have already surpassed the total allocations of the previous administration over an eight-year period.
The Minister also announced broader regional initiatives, such as the “Big Push” road projects benefiting Dormaa East as well, the upgrade of the Sunyani Regional Hospital to a teaching hospital, and the about to commence of a new 24-hour economy market on the land provided by the traditional authorities.
The session concluded with a call for intensified collaboration to address pressing social and environmental issues. The DCE appealed for urgent government intervention to combat the rise of illegal mining (Galamsey) and to curb increasing HIV infection rates in the district. The Regional Minister assured traditional leadership of the government’s support in maintaining local authority and extending water mechanization to boost agricultural productivity.
