Osei Owusu King, and the District Coordinating Director, aims to validate the ongoing household registration and data collection for the LEAP reassessment process and clarify misinformation surrounding its activities.

As part of its roles, the District LEAP Implementation Committee (DLIC), drawn from the Health and Education Services, Assembly Staff, Assembly Members and other stakeholders, makes sure LEAP remains a transparent, data-driven lifeline for those in extreme poverty. It serves as backbone of social protection at the district level to oversee and validate the household data collection and ensures, the cash transfer system is not just handedout, but a well coordinated administrative effort.

At a stakeholders’ engagement meeting on Monday January 12, 2026, at the District Assembly Hall, which also saw the launch of an awareness campaign exercise, the facilitator, Madam Martha Gmanyami, the District Social Welfare Officer, reiterated the neutrality of the LEAP beneficiary election process and the fact that community selections are national based following a verified data and not politically influenced. She emphasized the need for beneficiaries to ensure their personal information matches their Ghana Card to prevent mismatches that could result in the loss of benefits.

The committee on their part expressed their commitment to good governance by demonstrating how to align local implemented activities with national standards set by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

The awareness exercise would serve as a shield against the misinformation and misconceptions that often plague social programmes as the public are engaged directly. It would also go a long way to better educate the public on the LEAP reassessment processes, reduce local tensions and enhance accuracy in data collection and provide fair grounds for all.

#INFORMATION SERVICE DEPARTMENT

To ensure that the government’s social interventions reach the most vulnerable and marginalised in the community, Dormaa East District LEAP Implementation Committee (DLIC), in collaboration with the District LEAP Reassessment Team, has...

[13,1
