The Dormaa East District director for the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Mr. Emmanuel Hinneh, has rolled out public education on civil rights and responsibilities in a 21 days electoral area tour.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The 21 days tour which commenced at Kyenkyenase on the 18th September 2022 had the purpose to educate, socialize and interacts with chiefs and people in the Dormaa East District on Ghanaians rights and civic responsibilities.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The NCCE has been undertaking the campaign in collaboration with the District Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman to sensitise people within the district<\/div>\n
as well as monitor ongoing projects and to identify key issues in the various electoral areas.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Hinneh said, rule of law and the education of the citizens on their civic rights and obligations would ensure the strengthening of the country\u2019s democracy.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
He further noted in reference to article 41 of the Ghana’s constitution “(g) to contribute to the well-being of the community where that citizen lives; (k) to protect and safeguard the environment.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
According to Mr.Hinneh, “some of our compatriots have abandoned their obligations and developed attitudes that suggest that they are not part of nation-building efforts. In effect, they prefer to sit on the fence, even in these trying times.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The people had a crucial role to play in the nation\u2019s development, hence, the need to build a sense of patriotism in them instead of the \u2018I-don\u2019t-care\u2019 posture, they can be heard publicly saying, \u2018Ye ma yenhwe\u2019, to wit \u201cwe are watching\u201d.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Also speaking at Kyeremasu, Dormaa Akwamu and Nseseresu, the NCCE director, Mr. Emmanuel Hinneh focused on changing attitudes through Youths on the spirit of patriotism and heighten public awareness of importance and benefit of paying taxes to raise more revenue for the nation\u2019s development.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The district chief executive, Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman further addressed the public on the dangers and the fight against Galamsey in the district.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
He bemoaned and stated it’s effects on the social life of the Youths, water bodies, social vices and the devastating damage such criminal acts causes to farm lands and livelihood of the people.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Hon. Agyeman thanked the chiefs and the people on their efforts in the fight against Galamsey and further asked for more collaborative efforts and assured them of His and government commitment in making such acts a thing of the past in the Dormaa East District.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The 21 electoral areas tour of the district have so far taken the team to 65 communities and ongoing.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The programme was attended by traditional leaders, representatives of religious bodies, representatives of political parties, assembly members, personnel of the Ghana Education Service, some members of the Persons with Disability, among others.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
